Year in GRi11 2.0

Dear future Zara,

Do you remember your last year at c.s.n.s.?
You were in GRi11 2.0. The best year of all. You had so much fun throughout the year.
You managed your own learning and were pushing your way through agency. Everyday you have one to one devises. We use google apps like google drive and google classroom.

You most favorite part of the year was camp. You had so much fun and pushed yourself to the limits. Your most memorable moment was at camp when you were sleeping on the top bunk and in the middle of the night you fell out and then in the morning Miss G ran up to you and asked if you were ok but you did not know what she was talking about because you could not remember.

Quotes

Year six writing

My most remembered memory was Going to the bathroom with my friends and playing with makeup. After wile Mrs McDonald heard us as she walked by and stopped us from playing. She walked us back to class and we got in big trouble so we all got separated. When the bell rang we had to say sorry. I try my best with most things I do and strive for excellence and I go for gold. As the learning journey began I have gained lots of confidence. I will miss the fact that every day we can wear mufti. I will always miss marble session every summer. My highlights are being in GRi11 2.0 because I have cool teachers and fantastic classmates. I have been involved in many activities: Kids for Kids, Futsal, Hockey, Camp, Weet-Bix Try, Interschool Tri, School Try, Girls Cricket, Road Patrol, Production, Dance NZ Made, Hockey Mini Olympics and Table Tennis. When I grow up I would like to be a flight attendant so I can travel the world.

Blog calenge

I am doing the blog post challenge And this is my first one. For this challenge I have to do one post every day for seven days. here are the rules:

  1. Each Blog post must be about a different thing.
  2. One of your posts must include a photo or image.
  3. You must have an audience in mind when you write blog posts.
  4. Add humour.
  5. One of your posts must be about learning.

This will be difficult for me because I Don't normally write that much.

Long jump

Ring Ring I picked up the phone. “Hello Zara speaking” I casually said. As I excitedly hung up the phone and screamed “i'm in the olympics” they sent an email to me. It was my flight tickets.

As i board the private Olympian plane I saw all the famous competitors like Usain Bolt and the long jump winner Brittney Reese. I started getting more and more nervous as the plane kept flying. At this point in time I thought that i would not be even in the top three.

I had three more days till my big day and so I went to the Olympic long jump pit and saw that it was a lot bigger than what I've been practicing in. I kept on running as fast as I could and pushing myself ford but still only reaching 5 meters. I decided that I should come back tomorrow.

As the next day ocerd I walked down to the long jump pit and tried again and again this time I made it 5 meters and a half. I have to at least beat 6 and a half to let myself go back to my cabin. It was at least 9:30 at night and I still did not make it. Suddenly from the distance merged Brittney. “ hi” she kindly “what are you doing” “I'm practicing for tomorrow” I said tiredly. “Here I will give you a tip Run as fast as you can and when you push of the ground push yourself ford” she exclaimed. “Thanks I will keep it in mind for tomorrow” I said as I thanked her.

That night I could barley sleep with the excitement of tomorrow.

When it hit 2 minutes I was so nervous and started stretching. Zara could you please step up to the line. “Ok so to beat Britney you have to jump 7 meters and 52 centimeters” The speaker announced. In my head I was thinking about the tip Britney told me. 3……... 2………1…. Run!!!!!!!! I ran and then jumped to then push myself ford.

My jump was 7 53 I did it and set the new world record. Zara could you please step up on the podium. I got to stand at the top and look down at Britney. We all congratulated everyone and had a group photo. I will always remember this moment for life and hope I will be invited for next year.

What about Cuba?

What about Cuba?

Cuba is a county located in North America. Cuba is the principal island, which is surrounded by four main groups of islands.

Narciso López created the Cuban flag. The Cuban flag is blue and white striped with a red triangle and a white star.

The population in Cuba is 11,392,889 people.

The only cars that Cuban citizens can own legally are cars created and brought before 1959. After this year, the Cuban government seized all of the cars, and owns them all to this day.

Cuba has a 99.8% literacy rate, which is one of the highest in the world. Dance is very important in Cuba, the birthplace of classic dance styles like the Bolero, Mambo and Cha Cha.

Cuba is competing in the 2016 Olympics. They have 116 competitors. Their best sports are wrestling, with two golds and judo, with one silver. The Olympic sports Cuba competes in are women's discus throw, men's 110m hurdles, women's 400m hurdles, beach volleyball, men's triple jump, women's 200m, women's kayak single 200m, wrestling, track cycling  and boxing,

In Cuba they have a problem with water pollution. It's caused by industrial and urban wastes that are dumped into the sea.  Over 250 rivers in Cuba are polluted but the Communist government there doesn’t want to admit it.  The people don’t know about the pollution because the government keeps it a secret.

One solution Cuba has tried is to install 703 slow-sand filters and an equal number of containers for the filtered water. This cleans the water and makes it safe for people to use.

Cuba needs to come up with a new idea to fix the problem of water pollution or marine life could die and people could get ill.  There won’t be enough clean water for everyone to survive.

Trip to Wellington

On Sunday my Dad and I went to Wellington airport to drop my Mum off.  She went to Australia for 8 days.On the way there we listened to music. my parents kept talking all the way there which was annoying.

When we finally got there we had to say goodbye and leave because we were in the taxi lane.

On the way back I was a bit spoiled. We got Mc Donalds for lunch. After lunch we stopped at Grandmas to have a visit. We stayed there for 2 hours and decided to head home. On the way back we had another stop. We stopped at the ice cream shop. It was a mission because Dad drove past it, and had to turn around.

Finally we went strait home.

TTS

TTS stands for traditional teaching style.

We did a CSI about it.

It is a colour symbol image.
On colour you put a colour in the box (like yellow might be happy and grey might be bored)
For symbol you find a symbol that will match what you have done.
image is where you find an image that will match what you have done.

Here is my TTS CSI

Sports

My Favorite sport is hockey. Hockey is a sport where you use a stick to hit a ball into a goal. I enjoy it because I'm good at it and its fun. The man who teachers use is Nittin. He comes from hockey Manawatu. We do it at College Street Normal School turf.

Mini Golf

In the holidays I went to Feilding to play mini golf. There are about 25 holes. On the fist one surprisingly I got the ball in with 2 shots. My favourite hole is the giant boot!! You have to hit the ball into the boot and then it comes out a drain pipe and if you are lucky it will go straight into the hole. The last hole is cool because there is a very long hole and a small one. If you get the ball into the small hole you get a free game for next time and if you don't it's bad luck.

Weet-Bix Kids Tryathlon

                            Weet-Bix Tryathlon
On the 24th of March 2016 the Weet-Bix Tryathlon was held at Ongley park. We had to swim one hundred meters then bike four kilometres and run one point five kilometres. My age group (10 years) had to stand in the rain for an hour. Then when we finally got under the tent we put our selfs in lines. When we finally got into the pool I was getting more and more exited. 3 2 1 go, I started swimming as fast as I could. I was falling behind. When I got out of the pool I was already exhausted. The bike was where I passed everyone. In the run I didn't stop running and know one passed me.

What you need to play:

Hockey stick,
Mouth guard,
Shin pads,

You should think of playing because its challenging, exhausting and hard but also fun.

GRi11 2.0 Camp at Sixtus Lodge 2016

My favourite part of camp was the river walk.

There were lots of logs to go over and under. One other obstacle was the rocks because they kept on moving. All the way through the cave the water was at least ankle deep and the rest of the way was over the knee.

When we got out of the cave it was bush. The four people at the back including me were well behind and found wet mud. We put mud on our fingers and gave our self streaks on the cheeks. We considered ourselves as THE RIVER WALK WARRIORS.

The River Walk Warriors

GRi11 2.0

My favourite place in GRi11 2.0 is the hub. It is the main part of the class where there is the most space. There are three tables two learners a white bored jelly been table and a white bored leaner. In the mornings I like to play Foosball with my friends. We also have a ping pong table but the boys normally get there first.
